CARNEGIE MELLON
(Intl. Center for Study of Robotics)
Pittsburgh, PA
This competition entry was for a campus building
to accommodate a complex set of classrooms, laboratories, administrative
offices, and support services for an advanced research and degree program.
Filling a ravine located adjacent to the main portion of campus, the building’s
internal organization allowed for both large Center-wide functions and
individual departmental identification. The range of interior spaces was
developed for a number of robotic prototypes to be tested within controlled
environments but with access to limited outdoor spaces that could serve
as experiential extensions.
